Our zinfandel planting was established in 1980. The location on San Marcos Road was selected after 6 years of research and experimentation with zinfandel by Dave. The high average summer temperatures and cool nights are what zinfandel needs to develop great complexity and varietal character. As a result of this careful match of varietal and microclimate, our zinfandel is rich and flavorful at a moderate alcohol level. If you are looking for big, jammy, rocket-fuel zin, look elsewhere! We prefer to make a zinfandel with subtlety and sophistication that compliments food without overwhelming it. Our zin has a distinct spicy zinfandel nose, round blackberry, cherry and vanilla flavors. As with all of our wines, oak is kept far in the background.
